This illustration was inspired by the summer solstice. Alongside wild strawberry flowers throughout the border, I wanted to reference the longest day of the year with a series of insects found in Maine.Daytime insects include a Monarch butterfly, Honey bees, June bugs, and Great spangled fritillaries - transitioning to nighttime insects including fireflies, Pine Tree crickets, and a Cecropia moth. Featured in center is an American robin enjoying some in-season strawberries (the best kind).

Originally painted in gouache with digital colored pencil. Digitally-printed in Portland, Maine on matte paper; ships in a sturdy, 100% recycled mailer.
